To Our Valued Guests,
Throughout our careers as restaurateurs, we’ve made it a priority to care for our entire team—from dishwashers and cooks to bussers, servers, managers, and chefs. We believe every member of our ‘ohana (family) deserves to be treated with respect and dignity.
One of the greatest challenges we face is ensuring our back-of-house team—what we lovingly call the Heart of the House—receives equitable compensation in comparison to the tips earned by front-of-house staff, especially given the soaring cost of housing in the 828 area.
To help address this disparity and ease the financial strain on our team, we’re joining many of our peers locally and across the country in implementing a modest 3% service charge. This fee goes directly to our hourly back-of-house staff. For guests, this means an average additional cost of just 75 cents per person—a small contribution that makes a meaningful impact on those who prepare your meals with care and pride.
In Hawaiian culture, Aloha is much more than a greeting. It reflects a way of life grounded in love, compassion, respect, and harmony. The Aloha Spirit reminds us that we are all connected—staff, guests, and the community alike.
We strive to embody this spirit in all we do, creating a warm and inclusive hale (home) for everyone who walks through our doors. Thank you for supporting not just our restaurant, but the people who make it possible.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Huli Sue’s
